David Ian Cranko
Born 11.08.1965, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Biography
Art has since an early age, captured David's heart and imagination. During his youth, Southern Africa was going through a transitional period, which resulted in his family traveling and living in five African countries. This had a positive effect on his life as it brought him into contact with the Africa wilderness its environment, diverse cultures and art. Having traveled to the States, Australia, Asia, England and Europe, his art reflects our contemporary way of thinking.
David is currently living in Swaziland, Mbabane, Africa, where he has a Fine Art Studio. He is currently working on large monumental pieces for public display.
"Pursuing a career in art has opened up my imagination to a world full of joys and sorrows, but art has kept me focused in striving for creative excellence, understanding and learning".
Zimbabwean- born fine artist, David Cranko's artwork has been hailed as "some of the best pieces" to come out of Africa during his numerous exhibitions in various parts of the world.

The Artists call their work "Post African," for in it they try to unite the old traditions with the new, and in some instances unite African and Western forms.
Cranko, for example, uses classical Western architectural forms and African references in the same work to bring the two cultures visually together in a sometimes surreal manner.

David Ian Cranko's six wood sculptures make quite an impression exploring themes of the environment, nature, human relationships in beautiful wood colours.
His style is undoubtedly contemporary and mixes Western influences and Zimbabwean subjects
